ABSTRACT The frequent fire outbreak within the state, no doubt, poses serious threat not only to the disruption of economic and commercial activities of the people affected but leaves an enormous loss of life, injury to persons and property damage The economic implications of fire outbreaks through other means such as market fires, industrial fires, oil and gas to other asset, investment and growth of the state cannot be over emphasized because of the speed and totality of the destructive forces of fire The present effort in containing fire outbreaks is significantly challenged on how to redirect the mindset of Government, Organizations and Individuals from firefighting to also see the need to invest more in active and passive fire protection systems and preventions that help prevent the spread of fire and smoke. The fire protection, prevention and management strategy will not only provide safety of the building but also ensure additional safety to the lives and properties in our building within our State. The first step toward halting a fire is to properly identify the incident, raise the occupant alarm, and then notify emergency response professionals. This is often the function of the fire detection and alarm system. Several system types and options are available, depending on the specific characteristics of the protected space. Fire protection experts generally agree that automatic sprinklers represent one of the single, most significant aspects of a fire management program. Properly designed, installed and maintained, these systems can overcome deficiencies in risk management, building construction, and emergency response. They may also provide enhanced flexibility of building design and increase the overall level of fire safety.
